Employment and Labor Law
For the duration of his career, Lincoln Hobbs has been actively involved in the representation of both employers and employees in connection with all types of employment disputes. Selected areas of employment law focus have included:
-- Negotiation of severance compensation, with an emphasis on negotiating severance agreements for professionals and executives;
-- Prosecution and defense of age, race, religion and sexual discrimination claims;
-- Prosecution and defense of sexual harassment claims, involving quid pro quo and hostile environment cases;
-- Collection of unpaid wages, severance and employment benefits at termination;
-- Prosecution and defense of public policy and whistleblower claims;
-- Litigation against municipal and state governmental agencies, including the University of Utah for wrongful termination, discrimination and free-speech infringement claims;
-- Representation of both employers and employees in connection with employee severance, resignation, termination and retirement agreements;
-- Representation of public employees respecting employee discipline issues, up to and including termination;
-- Representation of employers, employees and third parties in connection with disputes related to the enforcement of, challenges to, and claims arising from non-compete, non-dicslosure and trade secret disputes.
Lincoln has been repeatedly recognized for his employment expertise by numerous sources, including Best Lawyers, Superlawyers, and Salt Lake Business Magazine's Legal Elite. From 2002-03, he served as the chair of the Utah State Bar Labor and Employment Section.
