Our Green and Sustainable Practice

Hobbs Peak Properties, which owns the building which Hobbs & Olson, Hobbs Mediation and the Utah Society for Environmental Education is housed, has been commited to sustainability since the acquisition in 2005.

When the building was purchased, the interior was modified to include low-energy lighting, energy efficient windows for the replaced windows, EnergyStar appliances and timed thermostats on all levels. Replacement of the HVAC system included a high-efficiency heating and cooling system, and heating and cooling is set at reasonable levels.

Recently, Hobbs Peak Properties has replaced all of the windows with high-efficiency, energy efficient windows, have replaced the roof with an insulated white membrane roof, and have installed 30 photovoltaic solar panels, to create a 7.2 watt solar system, which is anticipated to produce most of the electricity needs of the building and its occupants.

Occupants of the building all have individual cloth towels assigned to them in order to avoid paper waste, and the office strives to recycle all possible waste products, through the public option for general waste, and a shredding service which shreds and then recycles confidential paper matters.

But our commitment to the environment doesn't just end with what we do, it includes what we encourage our clients to do. In that regard, Lincoln was extensively involved in the production of the Community Association Institute's Best Practices Guide on Green Communities, and the firm sponsors the Utahgreenlaw blog, which provides updates and insight into developments in sustainability that affect Utahns, and in turn, the World.
